Top team

Hello and welcome back to my blog

Today I'm going to be talking to you about Top team. This week top team came to our school. Top team is were you get to play a lot of activities. The activities were: You had to stand in the tarpaulin and it was like a circle, you and your team had to walk in it as many times as you could to the cone and back. Tic Tac Toe. We had two water activities. One was to keep the holes in the pole shut and we would fill it up with water and see how high the water gets. The other one was our team had to sit a row and we had buckets of water that we had to put it over our heads and pour it into the bucket behind us and once we get it to the back you put it into the bucket, at the end you see how much water you have. Some other activities we did way a really big sack race, what you did is you had to put a lesse four people from your group in and you had to got to the cone and back.

Another one we had to build a tower from blocks to see who could get the highest. You had to sling shoot bean bags and your team have to catch it and put it in your bucket. You had to get through a maze and if you messed up you had to start again.

Have you ever done Top team

Tough kids

Hello and welcome back to my blog

Today I'm going to be talking to you about Tough kids.  a couple of weeks ago my school completed the tough kids race. Tough kids is like a race were you have to get through obstacles. There was lots of mud and water involved. There were obstacles like inflatables that we had to go through, we had to climb over tiers and ropes. We got to dress up and got to wear tutus and face paint. At the end of the race when we got to the finish line we got an apple. The obstacles we did were: We had to climb over a mountain of tiers, we had to go through inflatables, We had to climb over ropes and over a fence, We had to run down the harber and back, we had to walk through the water, we had to run thorough inflatable swimming pools, we got to slid on a slip and slide and there was a big inflatable at the end.

Did you do tough kids

Sports

Hello and welcome back to my blog

Today I'm going to be talking to you guys about our sports rotations. Every Thursday we have been rotating to different sports, the sports we played were

  • Korfball
  • Softball
  • Cricket
  • Bowls
Some Thursdays we do too sports and some Thursdays we just do one for the hole rotation. For the rotation were we would do too sports, we get to do two times and the other sports we just do once. The sports we do two times is Cricket and Korfball and Bowls and Softball we just do once. My favorite sport was Korfball because i've never played it before and it's something new. I really enjoyed playing Korfball because It's kind of like basketball and Netball together but you can't run with the ball. The rules are girls can only defend girls and boys can only defend boys. You can't shoot into the hoop if someone is defending you closely. If your defending the other team with the ball and you get called for good defence your team gets the ball.

Have you ever played any of these sports

Create task

Hello and Welcome back to my blog,

In today's blog I am going to be talking to you about my Create task for this week. Last week in Reading we had to read to articles and have to guess what one was fake ad what one was real. After we had read both of the articles we had to do a Padlet and answer questions about each article and why we thought one was fake and what one was right. Here is what I wrote:

Have you ever done a Padlet before?

Recipes

Hello and welcome back to my blog,

In this blog I am going to be sharing my Recipes with you. At the start of the term we picked a country out of a hat and have to find something that they do in that certain country and a type of food that came for that country. The country I picked out of the hat was Argentina. For my Recipe  I choose to do ALFAJORES/Caramel Cookies. Here is the recipe:

What you need
  1. ½ cups (200g) of all purpose flour
  2. 2 ⅛ cups (300g) of cornstarch
  3. 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  4. ½ a teaspoon of baking soda
  5. 1 and ¾ sticks (200g) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  6. ¾ cup (150g) graduated sugar or 1 ¼ cups (150g) of powdered sugar
  7. 1 teaspoon of grated lemon zest, Optional
  8. 3 large egg yolks
  9. 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  10. 350g (12 oz.) Caramel for filling
  11. ½ cups of unsweetened shredded coconut for rolling

Instructions
1. In a medium sized bowl mix together, flour, cornstarch, baking powder and baking soda and put aside

2. In a mixer bowl with a paddle attachment, beat butter, sugar and lemon zest on medium speed until it gets light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla extract just until it combindse. Put speed to low in the mixer bowl. Now add the flour mixture and beat just until all combined. Do not over mix it or else the cookies will be tough.

3. Form the dough into a ball then flatten slightly to form a disc. After wrap with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for 1-2 hours until firm enough to roll.

4. If you don’t want to use the dough right away you can keep it in the fridge for up to 3 days or you can freeze it up to a month, then you can put it in your fridge over night.

5. Take the dough out of the fridge and let it sit for a few minutes so it can soften up a bit so it would be easier to roll. On a bit of floured surface roll the dough into a ⅛ or ¼ inch thickness. Cut out into rounds using a 2 inch round cookie cutter and place the cookies on a baking sheet.

6. If your dough becomes too warm put it back into the fridge for a few minutes. Re-roll the remaining scraps and repeat. Place a sheet with cookies into the fridge or freezer for at least 15 minutes until firm so that they will be less prone to speeding.

7. Preheat oven to 350F/180C. Bake for 7-10 minutes or until cookies appear golden brown edges. Allow the cookies to cool down in the pan for 10 minutes then gently transferred to wire rack to cool completely down

8. Spread the Caramel onto the bottom half of the cookie (About a teaspoon). After sandwich together with the remanding cookies pressing down slightly so that the caramel almost comes out of the sides of the cookie, then roll in shredded coconut

9. Put cookies in room temperature in an airtight container for up to a week or store in freezer for up to 2 months covered or overnight in the fridge.

Have you ever had to right a Recipe at your school?
Hope you enjoyed this blog.

Create task

Hello and welcome back to my blog

In this blog I am going to be talking to you guys about my Reading create task. For our create task we got to choose out of four different stories to read: My name is Rez, Something alive, Skiing in Afghanistan and New New Zealand, I chose to read My name is Rez. We also got given questions to answer about the book we chose to read. Here is my questions

  • What are the differences between you and the character

She got teased for not being able to talk the same language as them at school.

I can talk the same language as most people in our school but I don’t make fun of people who are new because they can’t talk the same language

  • What similarities between you and the character
We both live in New Zealand

  • What do you think is the main idea of this book
I think the main idea of this book was to stand up for people who make fun of others from being themselves and talking their language (which may or may not be the same as the other kids).

  • What do you think the book is trying to tell us?
I think also that it’s telling us that all different countries are different, that they treat all differently. In the story at one part she talked about when she made a mistake at school she would get punished at camp school, but  when she moved to New Zealand she found out that they didn’t get punished.

Do you do reading at your school?, Have you done something similar?
Hope you enjoyed this blog

Camp Reflection

Hello and welcome back to blog

For this weeks blog i'm going to tell you about our school camp. It is our first week back from camp. For camp we went to YMCA Wainui camp, we stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. Each day we did 3 different activities. Before we got to camp we did a 3k walk up and over a hill to get to camp. Once we got to the campsite we unpacked all our stuff in our cabins and set up our beds. On the first day we got there we all got to do one activity, we had activity groups so we didn't have everyone doing everything all together. There were 9 activity groups, every group had a number up to 9. My group number was 8. There were 9 activities, Costering, Archery, Search and rescue, Breakout EDU, High ropes, Outdoor living, Orientering, Kayaking and Raft building. We had a couple perint helpers we had Mr Web, Mr Esposito, Mr Chambers, Mr Gavigan, Mrs Stanton, Mrs Vaiese, Mre Harnett and Mr Litten.

On the last night we did a camp reflection, we got given 4 questions Here are mine:

1. I really liked  trying the activities out and giving everything a go. I really liked kayaking, It was so much fun and such a great experience.

2. I found challenging the high ropes because I'm afraid of heights and the ropes moved a lot when you climbed the rope/obstacle course.

3. I am grateful for getting this experience to do all the activities and to get to see all the amazing and beautiful places.

4. Something I learnt to give everything a go and to do my best in what I try, I also learnt that it's easier to work in a team.

Has your school been on school camp yet?
